  • restart sim from other / initial fillup to units / resim with adaptive?

    Heya Folks!

    Two quick things.

Continuing a sim from a frame other than the start is likley going to come in at some point so probably no need to mention it

Second thing is I'd to add more height to a sim to take into account a later splash that appeared and so I added more z size cells. On restarting the sim, the initial fillup had moved the ocean level up higher than originally set since it's always percent of the original height - would it make sense to make this adjust itself to remain at the same z coordinate level in the max scene and thus have the initial fillup number adapt? (if a sim with z size of 100 and initial fillup at 50 had another 100 units of z height added on, you'd have to change the fillup to 25 to keep it in the same place)

Also of course resimulation won't work with adaptive grids!

    Cheers,

    John

Having a pointhelper or something in the scene to point at for the ocean level/initial fill up would indeed help.

      Hello,

For the start of the simulation - there is an option called backup interval in the Output rollout. By default it's set to 15 frames - this means that you can restore your sim from every 15th frame. If you set this to 1 you will be able to restore from every frame. The downside of this is that it makes the files bigger as they get more data.

Duh, manuals and the restore button for that one then

I reckon I've to send you guys a load of drinks to apologise for all the dumb questions any time I start using a chaos product for the first time

Ah, but we do need to check the Resimulation with adaptive grid (of liquids, right?).

The initial fillup has also gathered a bunch of requests, the relative height is something that bugged me as well
