The separate "rules" are there. You just have to create a preset for the things you want converted (there might be cases where you don't to convert for example Photometric lights). I'm also attaching an example preset for materials and textures toVRay_preset.zip (should be added here - C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\VRay3ds Max20XX\sceneconverter\ConversionPresets).
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

As an alternative suggestion - instead of us all manually having to find our way through these rules and make our own setups etc.
Why don't we just make the user experience that little bit smoother and more friendly and just go ahead and ask Autodesk to add it in by default?
If it's that easy - someone there could do it in ten minutes I reckon.

Having all-in preset might be not a good idea, but we'll add something.
The smooth and friendly experience has been already in, way before this Scene Converter appearance in Max. It's called V-Ray Scene ConverterIf it was that easy, it would have already been done

Yes, the Scene Converter is nice no doubt - but as the main UI in Max changes Vray needs to be part of that. It's a small quality of life upgraded.http://www.jd3d.co.uk - Vray Mentor
