Here's an attempt to fly as close as possibly to those clouds; would be awesome if the renderer allowed for cloud rendering below the horizon line...

Ok, it should be possible, hopefully will have time to look into it. I'm amazed that they hold up well from such a close distance in any case

      Best regards,

Between this and megascans, I feel like I'm cheating. Getting some hardcore Make Art button energy.

This is going to be super useful for improving Tech PreViz scouting. It would be nice though if it were easier to link up with the Max Time of Day, date and LatLong system for getting exact sun positions.

            It's a very nice addition!

Don't forget to put the VRaySky texture into a Dome light for faster sampling
When creating V-Ray Sunlight, it is more user-friendly to create VRaySky in DomeLight instead of Enviroment in 3dsMax.

It would be even better to have a Cloud Layer like dream scape.

I'm just going to add to this.
The artifacts reported are not present when disabling visibility in the domelight.

This is a *fantastic* addition, been wanting it for years ever since I saw what Eon-Vue could achieve, and whilst this is still a long way off from it, it's still very welcome.

Is there any way to create a "weather front"? ie an ability to occlude (for lack of better words) clouds from part of the sky? I'd love the ability to create the atmosphere of a storm incoming, or to be able to procedurally shape the cloud like you could in Vue.

Also, can we get above the clouds and render them from above? Or light them from beneath like you'd see at sunset?

Which artifacts? I think I already fixed the ones reported on the previous page but just in case, can you post a scene?

                    Best regards,

Not yet but I've made a note to look in to it.

                      This should work even now.

Here's a thread that shows various cloud systems created in vue. This would ideally be the various types of effects/atmospheres I'd like to be able to create.

But *again*, I cannot say how happy I am to have clouds in VRay.

Regarding the pixelated clouds - it's because they are baked into a bitmap for VGPU. We'll try to to make them render without the need for baking for the official release.
Is there any way to specify baking resolution in the current build?

Not right now unfortunately. We are working on porting the actual shading code to the GPU so that baking is not required.
