  • VRay 6 GPU Rendering wont detect or use GPU!

I have the desired driver installed, 407.09, and the render will not render in RTX mode.

I do in fact have a 3080 installed, and this *does* work with VRay 5.

CUDA mode also does not detect or use the GPU, only the CPU as it detects only one device.

    Hey HowardDay ,

This is a limitation of today's build, it will be fixed in tomorrow's nightly. I'm testing a temporary fix at the moment, then eventually we will have a whole new UI in the upcoming weeks. It will be part of Max's UI
We have a new device manager in V6, the idea is to be able to select which devices is used for denoising/rendering/priority respectively. I talk about this limitation in the V6 GPU thread here
In my testing if you have set a separate device for the AI denoiser for Look-Dev this gives double the performance for IPR. Also setting the priority per device is very helpful

About Max's standard light projection, there is a GPU implementation is in place in Maya and SketchUp plugins. Devs will get back to this soon on Max

It is possible to set this manually for now using an environment variable, until tomorrow's build

In my case here, my 3090 will be used for rendering only

Thanks, Muhammed! That worked a treat. Out of curiosity, when should we expect to be seeing updated nightlies? So far there's just been the one, from last week. Do you expect to see that start updating with increasing frequency?
        Thanks again!

New beta build is expected for tomorrow.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

New Beta build is live, you will be able to set the GPU devices like before, and it has all code changes for the new device manager. What is left is the UI which is WIP in progress, it comes out soon

Yeah, now the Environment variable doesn't work. I've got the latest nightly, and I've done both the env variable, and selected the gpu in the UI, rebooted/restarted after doing so and it makes no difference. it can't find the card.

                Hey HowardDay

it works here without issues, you can delete this environment variable to be sure and stick to Max's UI
Can you write me your build number? sure it is the second beta from 10th of May?

                Best,
