  • VraybumpMtl requires extremely high values with GPU

I've found that VraybumpMtl requires extremely high values for "Bump amount" with GPU. To the order of several thousands. This does not happen with the CPU engine and a bump amount of 10-60 is enough in 95% of the cases. Interestingly, the material preview shows the bump amount correctly. It's only in renders that it shows very weak. Also, if I turn off the bump map in the base material, the bump amount of the VraybumpMtl goes back to expected behavior, and similar to CPU, values of 10-60 are enough again. I have made a video (attached). As you can see, I had to increase the bump amount to 6000 and the bump effect is still barely noticeable.

    Thanks for the report Alex,

This is something that I hit in production many times, also it makes Bump mapping look very different between CPU And GPU
I logged the issue as VGPU-5865, and I added this item to the GPU roadmap

    Best,
    Muhammed

Would this affect Vantage at all?
        Kind Regards,

ie. would Vantage need that fix also?

(I could not edit my previous post. Seems the vray 6 beta section is restricted from editing)
          Kind Regards,

            Morne Hey!

Bump mapping is calculated differently in Vantage, not related in anyway to this issue with V-Ray GPU
If you notice anything unusual please let us know

            Have a nice day!

            Best,
