  • What does the "V-Ray Score"

    Hello,
I'm looking into purchasing an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX 32-Core CPU and would like to see how fast it renders with V-Ray by referencing the benchmark index. I attached the link to the cpu model on the benchmark site.

I don't understand the expression of ksamples. I would the score to include a time stamp.

How fast is a score of 35 779 ksamples ? ..... for example 14 seconds to completion?

    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

This score is meant to be compared with other CPUs on the benchmark page, you will get a good idea of how fast this is
Also when you click on a CPU result like this one
    https://benchmark.chaosgroup.com/nex...+Processor+x12
You can see that top results are people using extreme OC..there is a note icon next to some results

This model is better than what they had in VrayBench 3, which used render times. Problem with that old model is CPUs getting faster and faster, makes results less accurate
For example on the old benchmark I get the exact same render time for using more than 3 GPUs, I tried with 4, 5, 6, and 7 GPUs
The benchmark test always takes 20 seconds in all cases. This is because the benchmark scene was too simple, and you get this behavior
This doesn't happen with the new benchmark, where it will run for one minute, regardless of how fast your CPU/GPU(s) And you get very accurate results
    For 3 cards I get 740, 990 for 4 cards...And so on

    Best,
    Muhammed
