Lack of interest (dongle with no cd, is not of much use) or ignorance perhaps?
I was stolen some stuff (an SWG game, nice bulky, colorful box) from the Royal Mail (UK, that is) a few years back.
Still they have the MI5 that watches the Metropolitan Police that watches a lot of people...
But SWG was not yet out in Europe, back then, and boy someone risked it allright

Chaos might wish to send the key in bits, with the building manual just at the end

Hey guys;

Just found out about the dongle thing.

Well, I'm not very fond of dongles, and I see most people aren't either, only because they create more headaches in the end.

BUT, as long as these don't, and we don't run into any licensing problems with these new dongles during our production schedules, I'll back any decision Chaos Group makes. After all, they have the right to protect their product from piracy.

Just my thoughts on it...

just found out about it too, would be interested in seeing why discreet ditched the dongle in Max 4 (or was it max 5) for runnning Max. I found them to be a pain the in the arse, but whatever happens with Vray as long as it churns out good renders I'm happy.

Dongle for Max was totally crap. This one for Vray will be 25 times, I believe, more reliable than a harddrive so there shouldn't be problems.

well we use the WIBU key for archicad and it's quite indestructable.
its a small heavy plastic usb stick with no moving parts. not fragile looking at all. i never had a problem with them.

Hey guys, those USB dongles which are around today should not be compared to old LPT-Dongles which we had to use for Max 3 and earlier!!!

I use a USB dongle for the music program Logic (by Emagic - now Apple). And it is:
- very robust!!!
- very reliable (never had licence problems)!!!
- very small (no problem to plug a dozen of those dongles side by side)!!!

I have never had any licence problems with that dongle. I am sure it is indeed very reliable!!!

So after seeing a post that the request form would be available the week of Christmas has anyone heard when it will "actually" be available??

Seems crazy to announce things and then not follow up?? Especially considering the nature of the speculation of when Vray "full" is going to be released.

You'd think it would be better to fortell a date that is actually farther off than when it actually comes out. Marketing strategy??

i m not going to reiterate whats been said already, couple of things though
i m dreading the day that the dongle arrives and i go to the server room and have to get on my knees(!!!!) and do a fantastic four routine( the guy with the stretchy legs and arms) to reach the back of my manager rack box. Then spend the next year cursing on my self for ordering a rack mounted server with no usb ports(!!??) after damaging my spinal cord permanently with dangerous gymnastics (should have started working out ). but maybe its a good excuse to buy another server for the farm with usb ports this time.

Seriously now i do not care about to dongle or not to dongle, or how much it costs (apart from the silly problems above...) as vray worths every extra penny and i ve got much more than i paid for
But can i pretty please have my sun/sky system now... i cant really wait any longer. just name the price, release and we shall buy (in bulk as well)
