    - Will raytracing be improved (energy based)
    - Will GI be improved

I mean, normaly i have less then 30 million poly meshs, and there a features and bugs we waiting for more the 1 year to be done. For example: Bake3d, Distribution in Max6, speculars, channels...

Don't take me wrong that feature is very nice, but I just think about using Vray.

    Robert,

You are free to say watever you want, but I have to say that you are the most negative person I ever see in this forum, allways complain about someting, I can imagine you also cry and kick doors ...

Please be Positive and Construtive, this makes things go UP!

... I mean the features he mention is the ones people have been crying for for a long time, and is mentioned in the wishlist almost every week.

The things we did mention for a long at the wishlist sectition, also for me, are the most important things to add and fix....

Well, we can't do everything at once; we haven't ignored the wishlist section nor the bug list. This particular feature may not seem important to some users while others have been crying for it. We feel it is an essential one for VRay and so have devoted significant time to it - and yes, displacement (3d displacement in particular) is faster (a LOT faster)...

            Best regards,

Is it possible to know when it will be released?

              BYe and thanks

Excuse me but it's a dream to know that there will be something better than VRAY 1.09.0x.x

Looks like it will be less than a month, but probably more than a week...

                Best regards,

Vlado sure you can't do everything at the same time..

But could you explain what this new feature does to the minority of the people in here which doesn't have scenes that even comes close to the polygon amounts your talking about? Displacement will be faster that's nice, is there anything else?

Personally I don't think I ever had a scene that was over 1.5mil polygons, so to me 37mil polygons per objects is just a cool technical achievement but I can't see the practical use for it (yet).

Sorry if it sounds like I'm bitching but I'm just trying to understand and figure out what it can do for me

Well, the way in which VRay handles geometry is overall a lot cleaner now; some problems with mirrored and/or instanced objects have been solved, motion blur for non-moving geometry is faster; you will get simple fur...

Vlado: At rendernode magazine I read that you were working with volumetric lights.. Is this included in the next version?
                      Thanks!

As one who has bitched more than once in the past, I think it's time to wait till it's out the door. Then the kudo's and/or kvetshing can commence.

A simple guy like me just want's glass that's glass- and I'm happy to wait to see if that's finally doable.

Thanks for the time frame Valdo

There is a difference between announced and promised features for 1.1 (the highpoly stuff), and wishlist items that would be nice to have, but haven't actually been promised for 1.1 (speculars, channels etc.). Even though I'd really like to see channel rendering too, I can see why they have to focus on what is promised 1.1 features.

Also I don't think you've been waiting 1 year for DR in max 6

I think it would be much better if Vray uses max's materials with PHOTONS
OR It could be better to make Vray own shader like Multylayer in max
to work with PHOTONS. Irr maps are faster with max's materials and the whole render could be faster if the photons work with the materials

                              Hi!

You are making me very happy!

This is very good news for me! unlike Suurland who is one of the wise user's of MAX always carefull with poly count, and then keeping his work porductive, I tend to push scenes uncarefully up & high towards mega poligon obscenity till it chrashes, and then have to render scenes partially, in passes or whatever workoaround I manage to bring to work. (sometimes instancied does the trick, sometimes not)

The polygon frontier is there, if VRay breaks it open then it is a great thing even if not everybody needs it.

There is one thing that makes me wonder about VRay:

For how long are you going to be offering new features and imporvements for free? IMO you should stop it, box it and then start new release. Of course fix what is possible to fix now, but what is not easily fixed, pass it to the next release (this is how the world works: "What can't be, just can't be, furthermore, it is impossible" this is a sentence by a spanish poltician who wanted to make something clear )

First thing you do is bill us for the upgrade, make some money (Hey! not too much so you don't think as retiring yet) and then we all can rightfully ask out of you for the new features and improvements!

                              cheers

                              Fermí Bertran

very simple answer. everything up till 1.1 is free updates. after 1.1 we will probably have to pay a liscence extension or something.
