  • Avoid "show realistic materials" ?

Is there a way to avoid "show materials as realistic with maps" in max 2018?
I am trying to show all the materials as shaded, but some of the objects become completely transparent for some reason.
I really hate all the "realistic" stuff in 3dsmax and I do not need it all. Also, I like the possibility of showing separate maps on the object, which realistic materials does not allow to do.
This is a video demoing such behaviour: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/...812_105836.gif
Is there a way to avoid another great convenient "you said we listened" Autodesk idea, implemented in 3dsmax 2018?

Switch to standard viewport mode. Then right click on [Standard] in upper left of any viewport corner. Materials/Shaded materials with maps. This is global setting for all materials. Also, holding the globe icon in material editor reveals two icons for standard and realistic texture display for a given material only. This way you can be selective in your preference.

Well, the short GIF I recorded shows that when I show material in shaded mode - the object becomes transparent for some reason.
And the funny thing is that if I have several objects with the same material - some of them are transparent - some of them are showing correctly.

I have found changing to [Facets] fixes objects becoming transparent.

That means some object has Visibility 0.0.

No, it does not. All objects visibility is 1, have you checked the video?

Yeah I experience those bugs a lot too. It's sometimes solved by merging into a new scene.

Unbelievably annoying... I wonder if it still persists in 2019? Can anyone confirm, please?

                  Hi guys,

I changed to default lights for the viewport shading and that black/transparent object problem is gone.

For me the annoying part is :
For example, in vraymaterial, if I right click and then click on maps, that would take me to the map section immediately. Not just in vraymaterial but in every place in 3dsmax.
Now that good feature is gone.

Or is it the windows 10?

                    Hey
I have default lights always as a default setting. Tried the facets view - for now, it works ok.
Not sure about what you mean by "right click and then click on maps". Is that in the material editor?
