  • VRayMtl Tinting

I am looking for a way to tint multiple instances of a VRayMtl in 3Ds Max.

I have a VRayMtl node that I would like to create multiple colour tinted instance of to avoid .

So far the only way I can figure out how to do it is to insert a Composite node between the Bitmap and VRayMtl. While this works, this does not allow for efficient instancing, I would need a new VRayMtl for each colour tint instance. This would create issues keeping all other VRayMtl properties in sync.

    Is there an alternatice method?

Wouldn't something like the VRayMultiSubTex texture work, or maybe using VRayUserColor to get the colors from the nodes themselves?

    Best regards,

Like Vlado said, use a vraymultisubtex in the composite map. Or A Corona Multimap (it works with vray)

Thanks Valdo, VRayUserColor is exactly what I was looking for.

Simple to set up and renders as expected.

One issue, is it possible to prievew the output in the 3Ds Max viewport? Currently it just shows the default colour/shader on all objects whether they have a VRayUserColor property assigned or not.
