  • scale material (in material editor)

    Hi,

Is there a way to scale an entire material (like you do with the UVW modifiers) but then in the mat editor?
This would be very usefull as I've converted a lot of my assets to proxies, so changing the map sizes costs a lot of time if you have convert them back to mesh... and then again to proxies.

So for example if you want to apply a fabric from one object to another with a different scale, it would be very easy just to drag it over, and scale all the maps at once in the material editor (possibly via an "output-scaler").

    Thanks!

Looks very useful, if I get it right, it's meant to set up each texture individually.
Would be also very nice to have a modifier for a shader that scales all related texturen in the shader.

        UVW Xform modifier?

          Hi Ashley,

True, if you're working with poly objects with materials as seperate objects.
But I'm looking for an easy way to reuse materials from one proxy (vrmesh) to another, where the mapping sometimes needs a little tweaking.
I could show proxy as mesh, convert it to mesh/poly, select the part/mat that needs scaling, applying the uvw xform mod, collapsing, exporting again as vrmesh, and this for each material would take a lot of time.
So that's why I was looking into the possibility to scale the entire material in the mat editor...

I hope this makes sense, not sure if this exists.
          Thank you for your reply!

Well I was looking for a similar 'node' but alas. This has been a wishlist item from Neil Blevins soulburn3d for a while: http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_tools/...ist_coords.htm

And I've been asking for a similar something (but only for the blur value) but If these nodes came seperately everybody would be happy. Or maybe some smart person could make an OSL of this.

Edit: Just found this (independent UVW control): http://cganimator.com/3dsmax-2019-osl-map/ Don't have acces to 2019 but might be worth looking into it.

              Hi Ashley,

Great stuff, looks like I'll be installing 2019 when I've got some spare time...
