  • Can you bake/cache an animated VRayDisplacement into a mesh?

    Hi

I created an ocean scene using PhoenixFDOceanTex and a VRayDisplacement Modifier on a plane. It looks great but is there a way to bake it or cache it somehow as VRay GPU takes ages calculating the displacement per frame which I would rather do just once and not every time I need to re-render bits of my scene.

    Thanks
    Geoff

Just a random idea, but you can throw the 3ds Max Displace modifier instead of the VRayDisplacementMod and plug the ocean tex there. Then the displacement won't need to be calculated during the rendering process.

Thanks, will give that a shot and see how it turns out.

        Hey,

Is that happening with V-Ray Next? We've done quite a bit of work on speeding displacement up and I find it rather strange it takes such long times to displace. Could you send a scene over for investigation?
