  • Rendermanager advice needed

Hy, what soft/plugin can do following:

all features only must work on a small farm in production mode (bucket)

    submit jobs to nodes
add remove nodes on the fly

currently batchcam script and backburner is working fine, but you are not able to add a second node after rendering is started. Even you save dr servers by hostnames in the scene.
Current „trick“ is to submit a dr job via batchcam to backburner, one node is taking it and involve a second node via the dr info inside the scene. Now when the second node gets offline or „missed“ the startup the vray_dr.cfg would not be read out during rendering and one node completing the job....

btw what are you using for rendering different stills with light and material variations?

    pulze?
    reindeer?

    thx for info

And I think deadline is free up to 2 nodes?

Indeed it is. And should also allow for forms of meetered licensing (pay as you go, kind of.), i think (with us too. but i have *not* checked, as it's none of my business! :P) .

With Deadline can I have a 64-core CPU render 4 frames in parallel of a single job, each frame being assigned 16 of the cores in that machine?

            Keep eyes on this one!

Deadline is great tool but way too expensive for small size studio.

Hang on, what do you mean you can't add a second node after renderign has started witgh Backburner?

"Add and remove to selected job" works for me
