  • motion blur, refraction, alpha.

    ive got some meshed particle water droplets flying around...

    rendering against black background they look nice and sparkly.

    however when compositing, the alpha channel is so feeble that the droplets basically dissapear against background. seems the specular highlights/reflections on droplents are not considered for the alpha channel?

    is this normal? how do people resolve this issue...?

    I would say yes its normal, and also depends on how your compositing application interprets the image. Adobe for example basicly cuts everything based on alpha, nuke on the other hand leaves the rgb information and basicly where theres no alpha it uses additive blending rather than the normal "on-top" where there is alpha.
