  • Displacement maps in blend Material - bug

I've seen this working in Houdini/Redshift using Quixel materials, but I cant get this working in vray or corona for that matter.

Using Quixel bridge I can bring in 2 materials, each with their own distinct displacement maps. I'd like to apply both materials to a single object with masking to control which material gets applied where.
The vray blend material works (up to a point) with diffuse, glossiness etc, but won't blend the 2 incoming displacement maps. It takes the displacement map in the Base material and applies it everwhere.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    David

You can blend the displacement maps with the material blend/masking map, and place those inside a vrayDisplacement modifier.

Thanks for getting back. Can you elaborate on this? I understand the vrayDisplacement modifier only accepts maps, and I can't see any functional nodes that merge with a mask.

It's probably easier the other way around.
Would you send me a shader which currently doesn't work, so we can look at it in the flesh, together?

Ok I feel stupid now. The standard Mix node does this with no problems. Back to playing with Quixel materials!

            Ahah, no need to.
I'm glad you found a solution merely through asking!
