And ColorCorrect it is... looks like it can't manage HDR colors very reliably. Dmitry, if you disable the HSL space color correction for the ColorCorrect of the HDR environment map, it will render fine. Instead, you can use the HSV space correction, which made the dots go away in my particular case. I suppose it would be safest to get rid of ColorCorrect for the HDR environment.

Send me an email and I can get you a VRay build that deals with most of the red dots cases.

                I found the cause!
So I made a perfectly legal scene where:
teapots fall onto the box...how harmless is that? No materials exept standart max, HDRI with no other light which emits GI (both bounce quasi)
AND important factor is motion blur. With out it red dots appear to render in different manor.
Scene is here Vlado I await your help!
                http://www3.telus.net/public/vinnik8...all_redDot.zip

And here is something else, I have rendered the same frame with a different hdri map and got red dot in the same spot. One could think that because hdri is different then the samples shot from it will be in the different order, but red dot still apeared at the same position.

Well I have done further testing and came to conclusion that:
vrayHdri map is causing this. When I rendered several frames with it red dots were appearing. But when I used maxes hdri no red dots appeared. Hope that helps in the hunt.

I chatted with Morbid Angel a few Minutes ago. I got the dot at same position at the same frame (Frame 22) Further testing revealed that it's the angular map type in the hdri that's causing it. (at least spherical seemed to be fine in the test MA did) It would be great if someone with a red dot scene can look if he uses angular mode in the vrayhdri map too.

(It may be logical... i never got red dots but i also never use angular hdri's. )

i have red dots without hdrs and color corrections.
                      must be something else.

Well, there are many reasons for red dots unfortunately... objects without uvw maps can cause them too afaik.

I am with Tammo. My scene with red dots did not use any color correction and did not contain any HDRs.

It also does not give me any errors about missing UVWs (I double-checked it with Finalrender - which is pretty uptight about UVWs at render time - to be certain).

I'm not saying this angular HDRI mapping is THE reason for the dot's problem. I just wanted to know if anyone else also got red dots with angular hdri mapping - when this is the case vlado can look in this direction and maybe eliminate THAT source of red dots.

I'm getting the same red dot here too, so I should be able to track it down and fix it...
