given enough time you can do anything. a few vray lights, some grain, and some post work.
It always amazes me how much effort people go to somehtimes. I thought the idea of 3d was to create things that would be too expensive to do in production. they look amazing but seem rather pointless.
i think one thing to consider is the amount of work in modelling and textureing. without those, it doesnt matter how good the renderer, the images will suck.

well said ... that is the key to great images ... is the attention to detail ..
well those are pretty impressive. I haven't seen much work that is that photoreal WITH or WITHOUT post work. Though I certainly agree that post is the place for alot of those "effects."
Its becoming obvious (if not already) that maxwell is a great renderer for stills, though I would like to see him create an animation of those scenes that could be rendered in a production environment and time frame and still keep that quality. Between 3-9 hours and it still has massive artifact problems.

lol. I think this calls for a new camera type - called 'camera with flashbulb' (a camera with a target direct assigned with a look-at controller and heavy decay.) If I must say so - photos shot like that would be considered a bad photo... but in this case it convinces you that someone is a 'real' shitty photographer.
Anybody who has used Realflow will be looking at these renders and going I don't care how good they look I am pretty sure they where a pain in the neck to produce. I am so dubious of new rendering engines and what people post - you have no idea what post work is being done, and what behind the scene's optimization is happening. I've seen some great stuff done with Final Render aswell but has anybody tried using it for animation or on a decent sized project ?
