  • Saving I-map mid render?

Ok this is happening all too often. I set up my final high res render to render overnight and the next morning it hasn't finished I-map calculation (huge scene, displacement etc.) But I need my workstation so I cancel and loose everything. Any way to save what's been calculated so far and continue it later?

Save the irradiance map after you cancel the rendering... then you can use the saved one to continue.

Cool. Does that also work with light cache?

Unfortunately, no - the light cache does not have an incremental mode.

In a similar vein to the original post for this topic, I have just had to cancel an irradiance map calculation using multiframe incremental on a flythru animation so that I can use my workstation for the day. On cancelling the calc, the map has been saved, which is great, but which mode would I use to continue the calc tonight? Is it "Incremental add to current map", or "Add to current map", and how do I point it to add to the previously saved map? I'm using 1.09.03r.

          Many thanks.

I haven't done this for a while, but I think you first render a single frame from the saved irmap. This loads it into memory. Then you use incremental add to current for following frames.
