  • multi/Sub-object material preview

    Hi
I'm missing this thing in vray 5's material editor preview.
    See only the first material.
There's a way to get it back.

    Thanks

    Hi roysgi

You can switch to the old material preview by enabling this option in Render Setup > Settings > System > Native 3ds Max material swatches.

Thanks Nikoleta. yes i knew the option of " native 3d max material swatches" but I want to stay with the new preview and at the same time see
In the materials editor the preview of multi \ sub object

        Chaos Support Hi
I'm really waiting for an answer.
It is very difficult now to know what material has been placed on a particular object. For example, windows that consist of glass and a frame and have a multi \ sub-object placed on them, it is difficult to find the material in the materials editor because I only see the first material. Hope I was clear and waiting for an answer

          Hi, apologies for the delay.

Currently, there is no other option to preview the materials apart from the proposed workaround by switching to the native 3ds max material swatches. This is a known issue and is logged in our internal system (ID number: VMAX-10063). I'll bump its priority additionally and will make sure to let you know when there is any update on the matter!

              Hi roysgi

Expect the change in the upcoming Update 1. The preview sphere will be divided in 4 (IDs from 1 to 4), I hope this will be enough.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

                  Hi Guys,

I just wrote this here and got the hint to see over here...

                  https://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum/...j-materialball

For me, I find 4 also not enough. wouldn't it be good, when something with 8 or so should be fine? I mean anyway is not the appearance of the material itself at this stage important, rather than recognizing differences along with the Balls inside the Matlib view / Materialeditor self
No need to do any visual changes, based on watching changes happening on the tiles. This would be done anyway ever on the mat itself

edit: why not slicing it horizontally as much as needed? Or letzt say 8 or 12 slices? This will put a unique view on the Matball and is open for everything.
