  • 3Ds MAx Vray--> After Effects --> Media Encoder ACES Workflow

    Hello!

I would like to use the following workflow with ACES.

3Ds MAx Vray--> After Effects --> Media Encoder

I have setup up my scene using Aces settings in Color Management and in textures.
    I Use:

    OpenConfig file in VFB
    input Colorspace : ACEScg
    Display device: Aces.
    View Transform: sRGB.

    Save as 32 bit EXR.

Im able to recreate the same image look as the VFB in aftereffects by the following settings:

    Interpret footage: sRGB
(This is wierd it shoould be set to interpret ACES right?)

Project settings: 32 bit ACES cg ,Workspace Linearized, Compensate for Scene refereed profiles

    I add the opencolor config.

    1. ACEScg -- > ACEScg ( Guess this step doesnt do anything but god to have if diffrent input)
    2. Grading done here
3, ACES cg --> Output sRGB
    4. Color profile Converter sRGB ---> Linearized sRGB

When I render this through Media Encoder, theH.264 looks washed out in my VLC player. But if
I import the mp4 again into AE it looks good. So I guess that VLC player doesnt have the right settings.

Is this a proper workflow to get the full advantage of ACES?

Second this, would love a clear guide on the workflow from Vray to AE / Fusion. Got ACES running fine within the VFB, just having some trouble matching the look once I bring say a batch render over to AE

See this thread... We're all a bit confused, it seems!
