  • Decal Bump Features

I'm liking the new Decal object quite a bit. A couple things I'm hoping for:
    - That the decal material used could inherit the bump of the underlying material, rather than masking it out. Maybe an on/off switch?
    - That the decal itself could be used to 'add' to the bump of the underlying material. In my case I would like to use decals to add embossed text to an already bumpy metal material, like you'd have with raised text in a cast metal part. In the past I've done this with multiple map channels and textures, but the decal seems like a potentially faster, easier way.

I don't see either of these things as possible right now and I'm wondering if they might be considered?

    Thanks!

I think you can already do that by applying the same host object's bump map to the VRayDecal; to get an additional bump for the emboss you may use a VRayBumpMaterial instead. Check attached screecaps.

You can now mix the bumps in V-Ray 6.1.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
