Trying to play with the big boys but I mean... you've just got to laugh at this. This is pathetic.

However I do not understand the Mhz, maybe some of you can explain?.. 1.7 Ghz is what my PC says.. It's a pentium M processor..

    Cheers,
    K.

this is on a laptop yes?its because of speedstep which is for power saving, right click on desktop, properties, screen saver, power, power schemes and select "always on" or "home/office".

search google for a little program"ThrottleWatch" which will tell you what the core frequency is running at, you then know if your machine is stepped down or not.
      cheers.

ok.. Did two further trys, one yesterday and one today. The first involved lifting up my laptop 3/5 of an inch above the table for better cooling. Secondly I sent the render off to render on the backburner server rather than inside max. I gained 25 minutes, I'm not sure what did the trick? (My Mhz reading said 56

When I proceeded with the steps jow gave me, I gained another 9 minutes. (Mhz reading 1681)

Which leaves me with the time 2h 56m 47.2s.

        Cheers,
        K.

Tried the file on my Dual Xeon setup.
          Specs:
          MB: Asus PCH-DL
          CPU: 533 Xeon running at 205x17 (~3,5Ghz, FSB 820)
RAM: 2GB Mushkin Black Level 2

It's not the hightest OC possible, it's just the 100% stable setup i'm working with each day. Price for Board, RAM, and CPUs is below 1300$, so still a real bargain.

Here are the results from my aging workstation which is around 2.5 years old

            Dual AMD 2600+
            2 gigs of PC2100 ram

Here are the results of my new Sager Laptop

            Pentium M 2.0ghz
            1 gig of 533 ram

don't know why it claim a different speed.

I figured you guys needed some results from some slow people as well.

Interesting to see the results from the Dual Core Opturon. That is a big jump. But MAN those expensive procs... listing for $1,328 on pricewatch.

oh yeah... I guess it is interesting. Don't really think it made any difference in the benchmark.

mmmmm you could get two athlon64 X2 boxes for the price of 2 of those cpus.

And the performance would be better IMO

Well that render time is suprisingly bad for that machine!!! Infact it makes no sense at all.

Could it be because your using 1.46.15?
