They're not 'paper announced' they're available...
Varoius reviews I've read say the older chipset and older DDR work very well with only a very small speed penalty - still of course they weren't testing vray

    • Well I don't see 'em at my local store
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

        • Thanks Candelero

Thanks Candelero, just realised my mistake and wondered how long it would take to move.

          • What is the general time difference between 1.47 and 1.5? I'm just wondering what the time on the X6800 would be with 1.47. Looks pretty darn nice.

mainboard is Asus P5W-DH. About cooling I don't know what the guy used but he's into OC'ing so I guess it is something big .

                    • I don't think it is worth the exra 220€, but that's just me..

You can aparently overclock as good on the E6600 as the E6700, so that's no motivation.
And the E6600 should easily run at 2.66ghz, if you want the speed of a E6700....

Your tests also show, once again, how little impact the faster, more expansive ram has on the rendertime.

                      • I'm no expert, but I don't think this is the scene to test RAM. This is a processor testing scene. If you want to test the RAM, let's scatter 10,000 trees in there.

                        • Hi,

I used the scene from askhamdesign.

                          CPU core 2 duo 6600@2,4 Ghz(stock)
                          2 Gb ram 800 Mhz
                          Intel P5B motherboard

A full render queu is a thing of beauty !

Well at least my cinebench score was 934!

                            • BTW, I think we need a completely new max scene. When I created this one, I never intended it to be rendered this fast! hehe

                              • Hey percy!

Ya, you're running into the same problem I had with the original 3dluvr max benchmarks! What started out taking 20 minutes, ended up finishing in less then 1! Really gives you an idea of technology advancement over time!

If anyone figures out how to get the benchmark to run in max5.1, send me a pm .

My E6600 is pushing 3.21 ghz now and I'm really curious as to its performance.
