Same thing here. Just used the basic settings within the scene, DaForce provided.
After opening, a message popped up and notified about an older version, the scene was created with.
Maybe, it's a shader issue with shaders older than 1.5RC3
I analyzed the scene and found that "Catmull Rom" sampler is used. This Method often causes those white splotches. For 2nd render, I now used "Area" sampler, but the splotches aren't getting better really.

So I got my hands on this sweet baby for the weekend:
1U Twin Rack with (per node) Dual Intel Quad Core Xeon 5355 CPU's (2.66GHz, 8MB cache), 4GB DDR2 ECC FB RAM, 160GB System Disk, Windows XP 64 bit. Complete system also includes rails and external USB DVD and Floppy drives. No keyboard or mouse. Please note this system only has USB ports and not PS2 ports. This month: £5,125
It looks like this:
I'm testing it out and comparing it to our current Opteron nodes, as well as to our anticipated new Opteron nodes. I must say I have been impressed so far. I have been an AMD loyalist for years, but this might be too good to pass up. Here is the benchmark scene on both nodes (Max 8.3, Vray 1.5 RC2):
I have results on the new benchmark scene, but I don't have RC3 so it wouldn't be an accurate comparison. I have decided to wait for RC4 before upgrading.

Aaron,
By chance have you set the light cache passes to '8' instead of the default 4? Peter got a score pretty close to yours (1m27.1s) on stock 5320's (1.86ghz) on the page just before this one. His time before making this change was 1m50s so it seems to make a big difference.
