  • Artifacts about VRayDisplacement at round corner

    Hello again Chaos team,

I Recently founded that some of my textures with VRayDisplacement have some weird effects at chamfered corner, and the normal channel are proving there was something went wrong, the result should be smooth and continuous.

The height map was made in substance designer and one of my screenshot from it, looks just fine. My scene was very simple, cube with Chamfer and VRayDisplacement modifiers, and I also checked the 'keep continuity' button.

So, is it I treat the rounded model with displacement in a wrong way?

    Thanks.

Hi yi_xiang. Can you share the displacement map used? Is it 32bit?

Hi Garipodelu, I think it might be 16bits PNG?

I've compressed and uploaded all the maps, if you would like to check it. Thanks.

Try increasing the displacement's quality (by lowering the edge length); it seems to help out on my end.

Also try to subdivide the geometry. Indeed lowering the edge length helps, but it will increase render time. Subdividing the mesh will help you avoid to use a very low value for the edge length parameter.

It did help by lowing edge length! It's so kind of you both Chaos team!
Thanks and have a nice day
