The clouds with shadows are the bomb. I have a desert scene with mountains, and the cloud shadows make the image! Thank you!

Yes they are a significant addition and have such a great impact, especially with the animation options

Good morning! Care to produce your desert scene? I was doing a desert scene a few weeks ago and I'd love to see your rendering

Unfortunately, I can't. The project is under a NDA

Here is a little part of the image. You can see the cloud shadows on the hills. I am sure animating the clouds would be awesome; I might try it on the one.

Thank you for sharing, it looks like a very dry and rocky desert. The cloud in the middle looks odd, like it's glowing. The cloud shadows sure make a difference.
I recently wanted to test the limits of Forestpack and decided to scatter individual sand grains to achieve realistic sand. I had sand dunes in mind. It was a foolish attempt with interesting results, but in the end I was unhappy with the sand materials and I decided to conceal it with DOF. I think I'd just have to spend more time on materializing the individual sand grains, but my time run out.
The background dunes are geometry and contain no scattered sand. The entire thing was merely an experiment.

Ive seen sand done well in houdini using the same grain scattering method, so it can work.

Ikr? Houdini does incredible stuff, but sadly I don't own it.

Geo made in Houdini, rendered in Maya Vray

My mistake...MASH was used to scatter the geo in Maya, but the wavy beach geo was made in houdini...tbh I think it all could have been done in Maya then, since the beach wavy geo is the easy bit!

Nice! How did you get the ground texture?

Looking good for any casual observer of course, plus, job done and paid I presume, however I reckon the tiling concrete ceiling is a bit obvious
and I'm not convinced by the desert texture I'm afraid. I don't know the area but it looks a bit out of scale somehow.
Maybe the budget didn't allow for further developement...

Anyway, on to the next one! I envy your seemingly endless jobsheet
