  • More lightcache trouble

    Evening,

i'm having a lot of trouble with lightcache since I updated to vray 1.47.03,
first every object returning overbright color (see another thread in this section) and now, something I would have really liked to avoid, here are the facts :

I'm making an animation for tv, 16:9 format pal, 1024*576, all my camera pathes are made,I follow Vlado flythrough turotial, when making the lightcache flythrough calculation, max keeps crashing somewhere around 75% ofthe calculation process when subd are high,

500 gives me no crash, above 1000 makes max crash (stupid windows error "max encountered a problem and will now shutdown")

Subd 2500 // fixed, world, prefilter 10, sample size .02cm

    Is what makes max crashes

Same but with subd 1100 is ok...

Memory problem ? Running a p4 3.4HT with 2gig of ram on board.

Thanks for info in advance as deadline is, well hum bouh friday

    best regards,
    chris

*edit* calculating with half resolution gives the exactly same problem...

btw using that /3GB switch, couldthat cause the error ?

    thank you

Try rendering your scene with a simple grey V-Ray material and see if there is still a problem. Also, you might want to check your memory usage while rendering - the light cache may be getting too large. If this is the case, using Screen mode instead of world mode and adjusting the sample size may help to reduce the memory usage. Also are you using any photometric lights?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

You should also check out the New Vray Manual. Specifically Trouble Shooting and the info on Light Cache. They've put in some valuable info on how Vray uses Memory, tips and tricks to avoid running out of memory, and other good stuff.
