Is there a way (script) to add a subdle motion blur to a slection of objects? I know the script can't know which direction of travel, but the script could have some options like left, right, or front, back. IDK, just wondering.

Best option off the top of my head is to layer the objects on output and do it in post, as there's no simple way of automating it in camera within vray.
    Maybe someone has a method....hmmm...

    What's the exact scenario?

That has been what I have been doing. I don't like putting people in my scenes, but sometimes they call for them. They look like zombies, so I need movement.

Directional mb in PS is what I was thinking...not really many other quick options...could cut limbs to layers and apply it to make it a bit more realistic (total ballache) but other than that your looking at
buying mocapped models, which could get very pricey.
One thing you need to do is to add reflections to the people...many if not the majority of the Chaos ones don't have maps for reflection but even so, it adds if you manually do it

So you want the people to be motion blurred, but the camera is moving, while the people are static (but blurred)?

You can set up sub-frame animation that happens between frame 0 and frame 1 on the people and set the keyframes to loop infinitely. This way you get an object that is not moving, but is motion blurred because it actually is moving back and forth between every keyframe. You may have to adjust the motion blur offset in whatever direction you make the motion (before or after the current keyframe).

          That help?

Oh, yeah, if these are images on 2d planes then you would just motion blur the source maps in Photoshop or similar. My option above is for 3d objects mainly, though it will work with 2d planes as well.

The camera is stationary and the people would have motion blur. I'll look into your suggestion (sub-frame animation).

If this is a still then it doesn’t even have to be sub frame.

Just add some motion and render one of the frames that has motion with motion blur turned on.

Do you need very specific people? https://renderpeople.com/4d-people/

Ive used them before to add motion blurred walking people to my shots. I was happy with the results.

if I remember correctly, if you select all objects in the scene and set their motion blur samples to 1, then they will have no motion blur (in vray properties), and then you can sent select objects motion blur samples to 2, and set your camera shutter to a low value, then only those objects will get motion blurred.

That’s pretty slick if it works. I wonder if the motion blur offset affects that? Like maybe it would need to be set to zero to make sure it was only taking samples from between two frames (rather than from either side of one frame).

Are you adding 3d peeps in your file? If you are, you can animate them moving in a few frames then render them with motion blur.

Yes, I know how to animate people, but when you have dozens, it is time consuming. I just want a simple way to add a little motion blur to everyone.
