Any plan to add this (even in beta) for Vray GPU, or it is completely irrelevant for this architecture ?

    Thanks,
    Nicolas

Very interesting, I’ve tested this as soon as it was available for C4D a few days ago. I’ve got about 30% speed up for an interior but it looks like increasing the LC sub can speed up things even more, will test again in the afternoon!

This seems to me to be similar to Metropolis Light Transport, whereby paths that "found" a light source were able to explore nearby paths. Is this different?

This is more of an alternative to Metropolis, as they share the same goal (scene exploration to find light sources, more efficiently than basic MonteCarlo tracing could.) but achieve it in a different way.
This is designed to be combined with MC, it's currently unknown if it could be combine with MLT.

Tested again increasing LC from 1000 to 3000 subdivisions, I’ve got a speed up from 30% to 45%, so compared to the original scene with no PG it renders almost twice as fast.

If you have a domelight, is it set to Adaptive?

No dome light, only a physical sun/sky and several area, spherical and mesh lights.

Oh, that's why, perhaps, you had such huge increments.
The Adaptive Domelight should provide for speedups by itself (it's where we put the sky map in Max).
Without the Adaptive dome, finding the sky is hard, unless in C4D the importance sampling, and adaptive dome tech are both embedded somewhere else.
