Another thing to note is that there could be a popup with a progress bar indicating when it's actually saved to memory. Because often times, if you switch out of VFB too soon the progress is stopped and the image not saved to memory. Or maybe allow it to copy in background?
Try switching out of VFB to for instance photoshop after you click the button. Normally you will see the "Image" button light up, after it stops lighting up, it means the image is saved. But if you switch right after you clicked copy current channel to clipboard it won't overwrite your current clipboard.
