  • Drag and Drop VRayBitmap Creation in Slate

    Hi All,
On the current latest version of 3ds max 2024, when you drag and drop a bitmap-type file from Windows Explorer onto the Slate Editor window, it creates a generic Bitmap type of map (the default Autodesk one). Does anyone know of a way to make it so that a VRayBitmap is created instead? Perhaps there's some crafty .ini file fix that will do it? Or something else?

Thanks in advance for any ideas

Just run into it the other day, some guy ( sounded like Changsoo or similar) made a script for that. Once you set up your default rendered when you drag and drop it'll populate correct bitmap for you. If I remember correctly it works on Vray, Corona etc..
Sorry not on my computer atm

    Z.

I've found this paid script. Looks like it will do the job, but might be slight overkill https://hqdetails.com/shop/droptoslate
Good to know it can be done, though

I presume zoranm refers to this one. FYI, the whole functionality was made available from 3ds Max 2024.1 only through MaxScript, hence why we haven't implemented it earlier.
