  • Dual Processor Purveyor UK

I'm looking to get a top of the range AMD dual core machine but, can anyone recommend a reliable retailer in the uk ?

I value reliability and customer service over a few hundred quid cheaper.

I thoroughly recommend Cad2 in Derby. They have built quite a few of our machines and have had superb after sales support.

Ask for Mike Leach and mention Rich in Oxford.
    Kind Regards,

I'll say, I costed out building dual core AMD machine and configured the exact same at alienware- they were over twice as much! I built a dual dual core opteron a month ago having configured a dual xeon Dell which cost 4 times as much! I'll never buy a computer pre-built unless it's a laptop.

What is the price of single dual core procesor 4800+X2 and opteron dual dual core 275 ( i am not shore about name 275 )
I read somewhere that for one opteron 275 procesor you can built complete 4800+X2 computer with memory, hard drives....

the alienware i was looking at worked out at around £2200,i built my machine(same spec.) for £1200!!!
couldnt justify spending an extra £1000 for the same thing, nice cases though.

The Athlon64 X2s are the best value, better than Opteron dual core, although opteron dropped in price by a hundred USD or so on Sept 1st.

                Today's prices at www.newegg.com

                Opteron 265 $855.00
                Opteron 270 $1,079.00
                Opteron 275 $1,319.00

                Athlon X2 3800 $374.00
                Athlon X2 4200 $473.00
                Athlon X2 4400 $569.00
                Athlon X2 4600 $690.00
                Athlon X2 4800 $884.00

I'm quite interested in seeing how the new Athlon 3800 X2s compare in Vray with the 4xxx in terms of power/price.

If you budget 1000 USD for the rest of the machine then you can build a 4800X2 machine for under $2000 or a dual Opteron 270 for $3000. Whether the dual Opteron is as good as 2 Athlons I don't know.

I would highly recommend Armari. They do some monster machines like the 8 cpu opteron 875 dual core machines with upto 128gb of ram (for those of you with the money is no problem.... problem) to more modest machines. Go check out their web site, and if you are the UK read some lab reviews in Custom PC or even PC Pro.

                  Regards
