What possibilities does this open up besides not relying on Microsoft and a 10 computer limit? Will you also be able to render animations through Linux slaves?
assuming you dont use any unsupported max plugins.. which sadly might be many many of them, this is a huge development for the non-max club though I'd think

One big advantage for large shops of Linux is that it is free. So for example, at my work they have 4000 processors on the farm. Since XP pro costs a lot, using Linux saves a lot of money. Plus Linux seems much better at very large networks. Plus Linux is already 64bits. Plus Linux is not a memory hog like windows can be. Plus Vray for Maya is going out soon and Maya runs great in Linux.
