UPDATE - we have managed to resolve the issue by uninstalling the last few C++ distributable and manually running the Vray distributable located in Program Files\Chaos\V-Ray\3ds Max 2025\utils - vc_redist.x64.exe

i assume that whenever a new version of the C++ distributable is pushed out it may cause issues with Vray and throw up the embree static raycast error.

not ideal, but at least we have found a fix, although it does mean going through the same process on all of the machines in our studio.

      Hi,

If you go to programs and features, select the version of C++ you have and select modify. Then there is an option to repair. That's what works for us. Again not ideal but our solution. Very similar to yours.

        Hi,

Anyone know which versions of C++ are causing this issue and if there will be a fix from Chaos? Was this caused by a corruption in a C++ update or something else?

It's not that it's corrupted, it's just an older version. Usually, software that utilizes C++ Distributable always installs it together with the main software (like V-Ray does), so it's possible that certain installers still use an older version, therefore overriding our own.
