I was just thinking about the possibility of having simple physics based dynamics for vray fur where some kind of tool allows movement in an animated scene to create a coloured sequence that relates to bend direction and amount. Is something like this possible?

Vray fur dynamics sequence based on converting scene movement to rgb values

What do you mean by "movement in the scene to RGB values"? Usually, the VRayVelocity element does exactly that - encoding XYZ translations into the R, G, and B channels. EDIT: Actually, the VRayVelocity saved the difference in translation between frames only.
If you wish to make a simple animated VRayFur, you can load a normal map sequence in the Bend Direction. Such a normal map sequence can be generated via the VRayBumpToNormal node. If I have misunderstood, please clarify.Last edited by hermit.crab; 15-10-2024, 12:50 AM.
