  • Viewport objects black with "High Qualty" setting.

When I change the viewport to High Quality my objects become black. Any way to fix this? Also when you are modeling how do you setup your viewports?

Is "Show Shaded Material in Viewport" active (there's a button in the Material Editor) for the shader?
Also, which Display Driver are you using (Preferences > Viewports)?

When modelling I use, Flat shaded or Clay mode.

I do wish there was better texture support with vray in the viewport. 90% of the time the viewport is some mess of black and white and terrible representation. This leads to using clay most of the time.

The default shaders in Max work better. Honestly I just want to be able to see texture maps properly all the time. Seems to be quite a chore keeping things visible.

Realistic so often causes huge slowdowns with every tweak to the shader. (On high end hardware)

Yeah that's why I always use Standard + Flat shaded or Clay if I want to see the geometry better. Apart from 3dsMax fucking up the display map in viewport, I can see my UVmapping/textures and it's fast.
