  • DR Animation

I've been using DR for still images here and its working fine.
However, when I go to do an animation using DR it renders the first frame with all servers I've selected (you can see the bucket being used) then when it goes to render the second and all consecutive frames, the servers error out, and it continues to render the first keyframe even though the render window is counting the frames correctly 0,1,2,3,etc...

This happens weather I'm using saved maps or not.

Does anyone have any ideas what may be?

It's because DR doesnt work with animations.

Vlado said that DR is not ment to work with animation, nor backburner. It doesnt make sence to. Since it will be faster for each node to load and render a frame then for all nodes to constantly keep loading and reloading and trying to catch up to your master node.

DR for animation is awsome for things like walk through animations so you can use the full farm on the calculations.

remember there is still a 10 cpu limit so dr for animations isnt always the best solution..... but it still rocks..

when you use DR does it save a complete imap or just the chunk rendered on the host? Still doesn't make much sense to use dr for an animation unless you have more farm boxes than frames.

Does lightcache now work with DR for a single frame as well? I assume it must now.

Yes, if I remember right it calculates the LC on the local client machine, when this is done it assigns buckets to the server machines.

So, it still only calculates the lightmap on the host machine? I was hoping it would distribute the calculation to all the machines, like the irr. map does.
