Well, from the sounds of it softimage buggered up the last version of vray by opening up the program to 3rd party renderers so I'd imagine vlado is concentrating on 6 (speculation admittedly) - it's a far better version of mental ray too so might be worth looking at.

yeah. it seems, but you still have to pay thurough your nose to render on more than one machine

And it still sucks speed wise compared to vray - softimage's licensing structure is a bit rubbish - fair play with the foundation version though.

Yes, XSi could be interesting to work with.
Are there many people who would like to change for it ?
I wonder if it is worth or not. Is it easy to use when coming from Max.
I really fade up with max, the subscription, and so on.
I fade up with autodesk that do no longer seems serious to me.

I'm looking forward Vray would be able to work on xsi.
Are there any problems in DR rendering with xsi like in max or is it
          only max ?

          Thank you
          Gael

Its too early to say. Vray has not entered any early beta for xsi yet.

Any status updates? this is really high up the list this Christmas. Been exporting xsi to max for over a year now, it would be so much smoother to hit render

Well, you can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com and I'll see what can be done... (I know I've said this before, but this time there really is something that we can give you).

                Best regards,
                Vlado

                    pick me! pick me!
we have a guy in our studio who will only use XSI to model, animate etc, then exports everything to max to render with the V - would be great if he could try out Vray for XSI also.

I've sent an email also in case christmas comes early for us!

                    • Vlado,

Is the build only for XSI version 6?

                      • It is compiled against the SDK for XSI 6.5; it may work on 6.1 as well, but I don't think it will work with 6.0 and earlier.

                        Best regards,

                        • Looks like Cebas doesn't hold still either

I'd still prefer Vray over FR though.
