  • Fields: Upper, Odd, Lower, Even?

    In max fields are refured to as Odd and Even, but in compositing programs they are refered to as Upper and Lower. Which represents which in Max -

    i.e. Odd = Upper
    Even = Lower?

    thanks.

      Excuse me...

      ...but when we we work in combustion we use Max renders with EVEN fields and treat them as UPPER...

      if we do the opposite it shutters like hell on tv..

      or?

        I think you are right:

        upper=0=even
        lower=1=odd

          Hrm, that confuses me. I've always remembered these 2 by looking at the fields numerically. The first (upper) field is 1, which is an odd number.

          This article on wikipedia supports that, but I'm not one to blindly trust wikipedia, and it was surprisingly hard to confirm this one way or the other via google.

          Which did you mean?

          How do you change the field order within max? I thought I remembered seeing a drop down box for it, but I can't seem to find it now.

                there are certain video export cards that differed. some would used upper fields 1st some would use lower fields first.
