  • VRay Fur

    hi there,
i'am on the way to make a little project, where have to be a spherical body with only a few hairs on it (like 10-20).
i would like to use Vray Fur, but the sphere has over 90,000 faces and when i render it looks like a critter.
i've tried to say him hairs per area: 0,00001
the same by face. but nothing.

i could use a second sphere with less polys at non renderble but is there another way to reach this?

    best regards

You may select which polys you prefer, then detach them as a separate object, and do the 1 per face option as RErender said.

P.S.: Keep in mind that per face would create 2 hairs on a quad poly as there is a diagonal edge hidden.

ok, thanks a lot for the tips, i'll give it a try,
but i think its a point for the wishlist for me,
          - instanced geometry
          - total numbers of hairs.

I have to agree to this, had the same problem myself..

I think maybe it is an scale issue. If you are using a coordinate system that makes your scene very small compared to the internal vray system, your fur will be very dense..

              hi winberg,
is there an internal scale in VRay?
doesn't he adjust it to the scene scale?

vray usually uses max' system units as its own basic units
