I cant say for sure. But do you see any other renderers ported to lightwave? exept maxwell there are none. There has to be a reason for it. I think marketing wise it makes more sence to develop vray for apps like xsi which are more powerful and more new, with much higher potential. Lightwave had its days but now, other proggies are taking over. Its internal renderer is great, but not a match to vray by its abilities and speed.Dmitry Vinnik

I was in a LW based studio for a few years, in London, and i am still under the strong impression LW is like a clam.
Dirt deposited on it for years and years, and the scripting side is NUTS (crap docs, little or no standardisation of procedures, and so on), as the rest of the interface, upto and including version 7.5b.
8, the dot releases, and the new 9 i haven't tried yet, but i have to say i miss little of it.
There may be a pearl inside, for the few lucky ones, and the few that spent a life on it, but boy.
IF the SDK is as the scripting side, and i can't see why it wouldn't, it'd be a HUGE headache.
Meanwhile the studio's gone XSI and modo.
And good riddance.

Im curious about how well 3D painting in modo compares to painting in Bodypaint. (painting in zbrush sucks)My Youtube VFX Channel - http://www.youtube.com/panthon

It's buggy, and very much a V.1 renderside.
Apparently it handles incredibly well instanced SUBD geometry in a scene, but an archviz model with 450k polys can crash it in no time on a 2GB Pc (besides halting the app's tools and menus, of course).
Mac version seems more stable.
From the renderside, i ran a simple test: an HDR preetham sky + direct light ligthing a hollow quartersphere, with a greebled box inside.
Vray would of course clean both GI and glossies PERFECTLY, given the proper settings and rendertime.
My betatester friend, though, went the way of "well, i can use a phong to have a specular", which somehow tells me it DID have troubles
I wish they released the demo version...

Well my basic point ( why I was asking about Vray for Lightwave ) is that I want to get away from max ( mostly because of the price ) and I'm thinking about switching to Cinema4D. But the price of LightWave is also interesting to me, as stand alone user ( with limited budged ). But after your reactions guys it seams to me like I take Cinema and wait for Vray to be ready for it . Or is it any other package that is worth trying and buying? Maybe XSI? ... and will work with our lovely V-ray?

ahah, nah, just crap, mate.
Max is the way to go!
Joking, of course.
I can never have enough of GATOR videos on the web.
The Illusion, node-based compositor with vectorpaint integrated in the host 3d app is of course a useless waste of coding time, as it is being able to script in one of THREE languages (Jscript, Python or Perl, three new kids on the block) or code plugins in either C or C++.
Especially if i am working in max
From what i hear daily there is a fair share of users which would love a go at VRay in XSI, i can see why

lol, pMG.
those who use it a lot just dig it, and love it like their mums.
Me, i could never get past the bloody mouse interface.
Even with betatesters and pros advising me every 3 minutes.
Reverse foot out of the question, of course...
The render, i seem to remember, was very very fast with DoF, having it at almost no cost, but don't know where it's at now...
Left the company, gladly forgot the app (and the manuals, god forbid!)
