Ah, thanks for that. Now I can fill out the form with relative ease.

no shipping info or anything, but a request confirmation :

This e-mail is sent automatically to confirm that your dongle request has been placed.

You should receive an email that confirms your request for a dongle. If you didn't receive it, it may have been blocked by your email server/client. In any case, it would be best to email us at vray@chaosgroup.com, just in case.

I certainly hope the new dongles work better then the old ones!!! And if they don;t i certainly hope that we can get a licence over the internet. I realize things have changed technology has got better but i get a bit scared when i think about needing to get something rendered and out the door...then this thing kacks out and i have to wait for a licence or something. the clients...and the boss for that matter doesn;t want to hear about why something doesn;t work...its always "just get er' done". So for now i will be optimistically pessimistic.

Maybe i should throw my old max dongles away for good luck.

sorry if this is a stupid case, since it's already a years of anything but news from chaos, i forgot the right combination of my login and the password. The only thing i know for sure is my email add (yea.. chaos sent it trough this email )

so i filled the email add on the forgotten password form and left the username empty. No reply until today.

              sad...

At a guess, probably not.... although it would be handy.

we have two licenses and work on two laptops. We have a small farm here at the office. We always take our laptops home so that we may work on the way to/from work. We also work alot from our homes. Hence the dongles will be were our laptops are. But that will bring our farm to a halt as we disconnect our laptops in the afternoon.
I could leave the license at the office and connect with VPN to obtain the license but then I can't work unless I'm on-line. Is there a solution to this that I havn't understood. That is without paying for a nother license to serve the farm?

It may be possible to get an empty dongle (you can even buy one yourself directly from WIBU), but it will still need to be reprogammed remotely when you need the V-Ray license on it.

There is, in fact, a way to do this. The render slaves only need a connection to a working license server, but they do not need a license, as such. So you can just plug the dongle out, and leave the V-Ray license server running. The server will refuse interactive V-Ray licenses, but the render farm should work fine.

ok, so all I have to do is have the dongle running once on a workstation at work and simply unplug it leaving the pc running?

You can try this, yes. Of course, it would be best to have a dongle at all times (e.g. in case the machine or the license server gets restarted for some reason).
