    Hi folks,

    got a couple of questions.

I am trying to render a over view of a floor in a building from a high perspective. My problem is I want the GI to calculate the lighting accurately and to include the bounce light off the ceiling but i can't seem to make it so i can see through the ceiling tiles. I think i understand the double sided texture option (basicly it shows what the front face on both sides) but that dosn't help. How do i set this up to work.

Second i have been reading many posts and am not quite up to date with some of the terminology so could some please explain what
VFB is? as when i select it in the quad menu nothing seens happen.

and what is a Vray Physical Camera, how is it different from a standard camera and how do i create one?

    Also what is LUT?

Please excuse my ignorancebut i'm new to VRay and i got to know!!!!!

I am not sure i understand what you want to achieve...but for 2 sided materials you should the Vray2Sided material, not the max standard one.

VFB means Virtual Frame Buffer, and in order to launch it from the quad menu you have to enable it in the globals.

LUT means look up table and refers to colormapping.

The physical camera is created via the camera tab, there=s a dropdown box that has a vray section. It is different as in correct behaviour, including exposure, shutter, moblur, dof, distortion etc.

Thanks for the rapid reply Thorsten.

I am embaressed i didn't see that camera drop down I was sure i already looked there. (I new toy to play with).

I am using a Vray material with double sided turned off.

The image below shows with double sided not checked

and this shows it with double sided checked

How can i get it so i see throught it but it still calcs the light bounce from it?

The main thing is i'm lighting it through the environment lighting just now for render speed but if i want to render an internal i have to hide the ceiling to let the light pass

      Thanks Again
      Greg

So turn it back on, unless its for an animation.

We never use the same scene for all our camera angles, you'll always have to make some kind of changes between views.
