        Mid October

I think the street date is sometime in mid October. I am very curious about the 64 bit side of the release but also very concerned about going to a 64 bit OS - how many programmes currently support 64 Bit ?

Most 32 bit apps are supported and work fine, like max 32, PS, combustion most games, etc. There are a few apps that have old installers that look for the windows version and if they don't know what Win64 is they will fail but those are rare.

MAX 9 is not released yet!

                Max 9 will support 64bit.
64bit ist not faster, but it let's you use more RAM. So, you can handle bigger scenes. Or render displacement with Vray

Well i could lay my hands on at our reseller...

                    only for 15 min... buaaaaahhhh....

i also only could look at the 32 bit thing.. looking for features , i think there hasnt changed too much..

so maybe the 64 bit thing will do the job...

on the other hand, i cant assure, but felt also the 32 bit seems to be faster. but you know ... for the poly thing, there have been out also freewarescripts to enhance modelling .... maybe they have only built in some free scripts..

                    lol....

dont know, cant say to much right now. 15 min isnt enough at all.

Max 9 is going to be the revolution

there is going to be MORE speed not only because of the 64 bit.

and we cannot wait until it hits our mailbox!

                          Road Show

I was on the Max 9 roadshow, and what they showed us was blasting me away. editing a 10 mio poly head with softselection. it freaked me out. Oh and i got a max 9 t-shirt. So it was worth the trip. I also comes with mental ray 3.5 but who cares we got vray hehehe

                          cheers

Last week they came to our office for Max 9 demo. It is promising, definetly viewport faster only with direct X mode, handles large files better, very nice high res texture management, mental ray has very nice features like very easy setup sky/sun , materilas for arch viz people, which will steal some vrayers on the road..

                            Overall I like it...
