Why dont you try it without LC as suggested?

Ir med & qmc every 5-10 frames (assuming your cameras dont tear through the scene) should do the job.

I do not understand, to be perfectly honest, why you people keep suggesting IRmap every NTH frame.
With the kind of spatial topology trees and shrubs exhibit, i would leave it to VRay to decide where to sample.
5 frames might mean the camera is seeing an entirely different part of a shrub, hence bad interpolation and flickering.
It is a spatially complex scene, there is NO shortcut to have a spatially SIMPLE irmap.
The only shortcut i would use is VRay's sampling Savvyness.

Well, here's a small sample of how its looking with IR/LC calculated every 5th frame. Not too bad in terms of GI flicker (I cant see much). The image sampling could be raised a bit though as there is some flicker....

GI calc is about 3-10mins per frame (depending on density of vegetation in the view)
        Render is 7-10mins per frame.

This actually works quite well once the imaps are merged together, then the higher samples override the lower ones. The only problem comes if an area is not sampled at all, but that would be rare at 5n.

Here's the latest on the animation.

            http://www.reformstudios.com/03-reso...roughSoFar.mov

There's a strange flicker for a few frames in the shadows near the beginnning (around frame 100) that was caused by the main node doing something strange,... not sure what was wrong, becaue the flicker doesnt occur again later in the animation.

IR/LC was calculated every 10 frames. (LC crashed the machine if it was set to walkthrough mode). 5-10mins per frame

Renders in around 7mins per frame on core2duo 2Ghz. 15mins for the M70, and 8mins per frame on the Dual opteron 265.

looks good patrick, how come its blurred so heavily? is it just the compression?
