All the posted images have been produced in real-time i.e. at 10-15 frames per second. Note that some of these screenshots have been taken using the AntiAliasing filter of redviewer and that you should unactivate it to reproduce the mentioned FPS.

The hardware used is really common:

    P4 3.2 GHz
    1 Gb of memory
nVidia geforce 6800 GT 256 Mb

The original resolution of the screens was 1280x1024.

mchopin - looks promising. I used to use Fprime with Lightwave and found it to be an amazing time saver for lighting/material setups.

Although it wasn't quite real-time, but it did render radiosity which was invaluable.

If redviewer was for max9(32 bit) and could render radiosity then I'd purchase it now!

insitinct: please, what's your hardware configuration?

mcvltd: rendering radiosity is not our purp ose as we dont want to substitute to the renderer (and if a way of rendering correct radiosity 10 or 100 times faster than classic renderer exists, it would have been made available for a while I think ). Moreover, our computation of the GI interactions would not match enough the VRay one to be really useable. We prefer to concentrate on shadows and materials that are quite missing from the viewports nowadays. About the availability of the 3dsmax9 32 bits version of Redviewer, keep going on, this should rapidly become our FIRST priority.

Thanks to all for your feedback

Thorsten: for your video card, we recommend the nVidia drivers 96.94 that you may found here: http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=F...&dwn_cat_id=15

This is NOT an official driver release but it works fine for us.

Will have to wait a while then, as i am not daring to switch drivers during critical productions

Not WHQL - doesn't mean it can't work...
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

nope...but this box is a bit shakey. Took me 2 days to find drivers that actually work with good old shake, framecycler and still dont block out all the main memory...hence i need time to test when installing new drivers...and there's too damn many deadlines as usual heh

Here is a small video I make to illustrate how the 'Make Preview' command of 3ds Max can be used with Redviewer: http://www.redway3d.com/rv14obss/daylight.avi
(For information, it took less than one minute to compute on my machine)

Hello Matthieu, I posted a request in your forum a few months ago for vray support. I must now make another; Max 9 64bit support! Screenshots look great.

Looks really cool, but I definitely need MAX9-64 support. Also I would like to know how fast this plugin can be updated to the newest Video card drivers, especially for QuadroFX cards. Not working with the latest drivers generally is not a good thing !!

The graphic drivers we recommend are guaranteed to work with Redviewer. For the others, especially the newest, the problem is not that they do not work with Redviewer, but more often, one or two features of our plug-in are no more available.

As an example, ray-traced reflections are incorrect when using a nVidia card with 91.xx drivers (that's why they aren't recommended). However, we are testing EVERY new driver from nVidia and ATI and we're adding support every time it's needed.

Generally, all graphic cards are supported, gamer ones as well as pros.

                                Hello,

another image taken in redviewer 1.4 (~1s5 on my machine without AA).

                                Full size version here: www.redway3d.com/rv14obss/mazda.jpg

It illustrates how you can get good-looking draft images of your work to communicate with your teams and customers with the same settings than for your final renderings (there's only one "trick" in that image: the lighting of the ground has been baked using VRay; everything else is fully dynamic!!).

                                Regards,
                                Matthieu
