    Hello people...

    After reading Lele's post and watching his tutorials I've managed to get a grip for vray sun and sky parameters, but as some of you i find this method, altough it gives attractive renders, a little bit complicated.

    Not that I'm lazy to fine tune my scene according to lele's instructions(after all there is a script available) but i really want to think that reducing color on .255 is necesary workaround for something that should be more logical to handle.

    Anyhow - here is my situation. I've set up scene using vray sun / sky / physical cam in a way that I placed sun perpendicular on the scene, applied white material to scene and then tweaked sun intensity to match approx. 1.0 float in vray FB. This way (I think) I got exposure right (altough sacrifising atmosphere intensity).

    After that, ive placed max sunsystem, adjusted location and linked and aligned my vray sun to it.

    So did I, using those steps, got my sun exactly exposed? To be more concise - is this method correct? I know that look of the scene is the best proof but regarding all this talk about sun / sky parameters i would like to hear your opinion about this.... and of course, possibly sugestion how to setup sun / sky exposure and skylight system better...

    Second question is short - is primary / secondary bounce multiplier in Vray actualy number of ray bounces or just multiplier of light where it first hit the surface?

      I do have a question for you, and that is it would seem since you're setting up the whole vray sky sun phys camera that you would be doing so, so you can have much greater values and intensities than float 1.0, after all, you can achieve 1.0 float not using phys cam/sky/sun.

      The purpose of using vraysky/sun/phys cam is for control over the final result via different f-stops/shutter speeds as well as physically correct sun intensities and if you link everything to a daylight system then you're really cooking.

      What is the purpose of trying to get a perfect 1.0 float? You might as well be clamping your output and rendering to 8-bit. Maybe I'm confused.

        Ok enlight me... if correct vray sun position, placed based on max's sunlight system doesn't make quite physicaly exact sun - then what does?

        I'm new to this system and stil learning but this is, in my opinion, pretty much best way to PLACE sun on scene.

        Regarding 1.0 float - isn't sun in asimuth, shining on perfect white material and producing float 1.0 - perfectly exposed photo?

        So if i make this as a starting point (exposure) and continue with placing sun on it's natural curve on sky - isn't this correct way to understand real physics behind this system?

        i'm really open to any suggestions, and maybe i'm thinking in completely wrong way... but hey - this is why i post this message.

        [Edit] - sorry if i droped this out - i use sun system only for sun motion simulation... max sunlight is turned of!

          The problem with adjusting the sun down as opposed to using exposure is that the sun is going to falloff too quickly.
