  • VRay Light Monkey V. 0.3

It's a really simple tool to mass change VRay Lights.
It's not yet finished, as i'm looking for a clever way to implement the big buttons' functions (at the bottom), which currently don't work.
Also, the dome texture button doesn't currently support drag and drop, due to the object inherent limitation when used in this context.
A rightmouse Click, though, will clear the map from the slot.

It's a beta, in that there's no installer, no support given, but i will hear comments and requests.
It's meant to work along with any present tool to change vray lights (lightlister).
Maxscript->run and point to the mse file.

Edit: maybe you'd like the URL to download the actual tool too...

Edit #2: now it all seems to work. grab v. o.3 from the link above.
When using a VRay hdri map as domelight texture, saving the defaults will attempt to bring it back once the preset is reloaded, with the same map name, and settings.
Since i often use kitchen.hdr from Paul Debevec, i really wanted this to be possible.

              Lol, yeah.
We'll have crouches and long, wispy beards by then, from the look of it :P

              Updated to version 0.3
              It all works.
When using a VRayHDRI map for a dome texture, the script will save in the defaults all of the map data, and bring them back exactly as they were.
Ideal to setup an IBL with two clicks.
Undo is supported via the Max interface.
For those with RCs without the new "system lighting units" option, don't worry, it will not do a thing in case, and just carry on applying the other properties.
The coloured bar to the right is an easy "dragMe!" area.
As the interface is really long, if you're with a low resolution it should make it a breeze do drag around and reach the whole menu.

                  Ziiing!
I never use the lightlister, personally.
Not yours, not the standard one.
I find it clumsy as a concept, and always preferred nice, one button solutions to anything.
Better still if the buttons are BIG
In any case, i guess it's a nice addition to those which DO use the Lightlister, as this is a selct /click, select/click solution.
Plus its interface is a simple, identically placed, rip of that of the vraylight itself.
So no figuring out, just run and use.

well, thanks again for sharing your work with us. I must admit I don't use lightlisters much, but I guess it'll happen more often, like, from now on

Lele, I'm using max 8 and vray 1.5 RC3. This is what I'm getting when I load the script.

I use the light lister quite a bit and your tool looks really helpful. Thanks.

Mmmh, i might have encrypted it in max9 sp2.
                            Bad, bad Autodesk.

Will upload a working version soon, hopefully (monday...)
