  • £30 for a dongle?

    Hi All,

iv got my dongle, and it cost £30 to post it across the uk...surely thats a rip off...I mean, even for next day dilivery, garanteed upto £150 only costs about £5...whats the deal?

im not bothered about spending that amount of thats actualy what it costs, but £30 surely is atlest £20 to much?????

I believe that covers the physical cost of the dongle and a direct pass through costs without markup.

Could be wrong but this is a very low cost for the dongle.

i may be wrong, but shouldnt the dongle cost be inc in the actual cost of Vray when you buy a licence?

I been out of the vray dongle loop to be honest, but im a little pissed at the cost.

Well it doesnt cover the actual cost of the dongle. It's plain shipping and handling wich is dependent on the reseller. We got ours for free automtically for example.

You should check out the other dongle threads, some companies ie. www.trinity3d.com are sending out the dongles for free and some are making a buck and charging $30-$60 ...

ok...right...It turns out the bluegfx are charging while eveyone else is sending them out for free...that seems fair

ill be honest, im a little more pissed off now than I was before...if they where charging and chaosgroup knew (and if they didnt know why didnt they know), why didnt they tell people to get there dongles from somwhere else. BlueGFX contacted me on behalf of chaosgroup and said my dongle was waiting all i had to do was phone them and pay £30 (around $60)...I was under the assumption that eveyone was paying the same cost, now I learn that there not and iv been ripped off im kinda pissed.

I was a little annoyed at being charged £20 for mine, seeing as it SHOULD be free regardless of postage etc.

In the end I just figured... its the companies money... I can't be bothered arguing... I REALLY want to use Vray FINAL.

              Get it paid already

dont get me wrong, im not bothered about the £30...when it goes though the company, and i claim back tax it costs me very little. But its the principle of the thing, and that some should pay and some should not, it should be fair to everyone...its should not be a lottery.

I've bought my vray licence from evermotion and it was already pretty pricey, (later i found it for up to $150 cheaper), i still don't have the dongle, and i'm not able to use the latest version of vray that i've downloaded.

my dongle came free from the us of a to Australia via airmail from trinity in a small padded envelope.

i couldnt read the stamps to see the values, but there were 3 stamps, so... probably cost US3$ :P

                    thanks guys!

Yeah I got done by bluegfx aswell back in jan. I was happy to pay the £30, someone has to make the thing, send it out to ya, thats fair.
But then I here ppl are getting there's for free, Not impressed.
As MDI said its not the amount its the principle of it.

                      What a F***ing liberty!!

bluegfx did the same to me. And they refused to send me a receipt so I could expense the £30 (I still did, but I had to provide a copy of my credit card statement).

I think these greedy bastards should not be permitted to sell Vray. Can Chaosgroup do that? Would they?

                            lol another dongle thread... hahaha

yeah many threads about this now, and about the 2 or 3 companies (that we know of) that are basically shafting the vray users by making them pay large amounts for their dongles when they are meant to be free.

Paying for postage... thats fair eough...but a few dollars is reasonable... not tens of dollars

Yep! I could go on, but, I don't want to create a firestorm like it seems I end up doing around here lately.
