Hi guys,
I am working on a project for a car dealership in town here and I have to show a number of quite high poly car models in the rendering and animation. I am finding that I am running into memory issues, even with the /3GB switch on my WinXP 32 bit workstation. I thought this would be a good opportunity to take advantage of the Vray proxy objects. I had a few questions, however, that I wanted to bounce off you guys in hopes that you could me better understand this feature.
First off, my car models are currently setup as a group for each vehicle. There are a number of objects for each vehicle, so I grouped each vehicle together to make the scene more easily manageably. Can I export this group directly to a Vray mesh, or must I ungroup the cars and manually attach all the bits and pieces so that each car is one mesh object?
Secondly, once I have my Vray proxy object created, when copying multiples of the mesh do I use "instance" or "copy" for the cloned object? I would like to start using 3d geometry trees for my scenes, and have always wondered which is the best way to go about this.
Thanks in advance for any information - it is much appreciated!
Jason
